The Shape of Water is an analysis essay turned zine that explores the duality of women in Greek
mythology through the lens of water — a force that both nurtures life and brings destruction. This
project reimagines classical myths to examine how femininity is often tied to nature’s most fluid and
unpredictable element. Bound by hand using a Coptic stitch and encased in resin covers that mimic the
surface of water, the book becomes both a tactile and intellectual meditation on myth, femininity, and
form.
The cover of The Shape of Water is made from hand-poured resin, designed to subtly mimic the look and texture of water. This material surface captures the tension reflected in the book: solid yet fluid in appearance, controlled yet unpredictable.
