Inspired by Astrida Neimanis' 'Hydrofeminism Or, On Becoming A Body of Water', this tactile
and sculptural artist book invites physical engagement with intimate and often stigmatized
bodily substances.
The book turns hydrofeminism into an accessible, visual, and textual format, framing the body as
materially entangled with global water systems. Each face of the wooden cubes represents a
bodily fluid: blood, sweat, tears, vaginal discharge, breast milk, and saliva. The cubes
highlight the body’s fluid composition and challenge the idea of the body as closed or solid.
Together, the cubes emphasize the body’s fluidity and permeability, reinforcing the idea that
the human body is composed of and sustained by water. The box lies fully flat reinforcing the
idea that the container is not simply closed when in interaction with the other elements.

The box functions both as a protective container and as a unifying object that houses the wooden cubes and the book together. Conceptually, it acts as a vessel—echoing the idea of containment, care, and the body itself as a holding space for fluids.
